A Multi-Sensory Exploration of New York City's Bars Through Personal Experiences:
Bridging Sensory and Social Divides Beyond Alcohol

Editorial Design, Publication Design
2023-2024

Be Drunk aims to break the boundaries of traditional cultural exploration, offering a comprehensive, multi-sensory immersion in New York's alcohol culture through a holistic approach. The core of the project is a book, a series of visual cubes, and some alcohol-related merchandise.

The inception of this project stems from a personal experience of mine. Sometimes on weekends, I would want to go to a bar to enjoy a leisurely drink, but I find that my friends are either allergic to alcohol or don't like the environment of the bar. Although I try to share my bar experiences and tasted wines verbally, I still long for them to experience more deeply those wonderful moments I've been through.

The purpose of this project is to share the full range sensory experience of New York bars that I've personally visited, with those who are unable to visit these bars for various reasons which explore how to provide a wide audience with an immersive wine culture experience without having to drink directly.

This project not only aims to provide alcohol enthusiasts with deep cultural insights but also builds a bridge for those who can't experience these environments personally, thereby narrowing the gap between direct and indirect bar culture experiences. Through this multifaceted approach, I hope to provide both an immersive and accessible approach to the exploration of wine culture.

"Tomato" is my profound reflection on my journey in 2020, once again in a foreign land, a year filled with farewells and longing for family. Bento of Memories: Maitake

2 x 4 x 6.5 inches, Twill White Paper, Mixed Media Paper, Linen thread, Acrylic

Through the artful design of this book, my objective is to transport readers into the very environment where maitake mushrooms flourish, facilitating a profound connection with the mystical allure of this natural realm.
